I began my PhD at UWE in April 2023, supervised by Dr. Mark Steer and Dr. Paul Lintott. My project will explore the applications of airborne DNA sampling as a non-invasive method to monitor bat biodiversity, both in tropical and temperate environments. There will be an emphasis on sampling cave systems, since these often house huge numbers of bats, and prove difficult to survey with more traditional methods. This will aid bat conservation strategies, with additional potential applications in citizen science initiatives.

Before this, I worked as a research technician for a year at Exeter University, and I completed my integrated master’s in neuroscience at Cardiff University.
